🎨 How to color it

Color the center donut golden tan with strawberry-pink frosting, make the striped party hat bright teal and yellow, and use cherry red, mint green, and violet for the bows, balloons, and confetti. Use sharp colored pencils for the sprinkles, banner letters, tiny stars, and narrow streamers, then switch to markers for the wide frosting areas. Try giving each donut a different frosting pattern, but repeat one sprinkle color on every donut so the whole stack feels like one big party.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the sugar seats of the sprinkle amphitheater, Gus tapped his bent bottle cap: tink, tink, ta-DA. He wanted to keep the tiny sound for his best friend’s surprise, but every donut in the stack leaned closer. Frosting smelled like vanilla rain, and the paper stars above them shivered as if they knew a secret.

“Not yet,” Gus whispered, pressing the cap to his chest. Then the cap slipped. It bounced off a party hat, rang against a banner hook, and made one enormous, fizzy CLANG. The sound jumped through every donut hole at once. Smiles popped open. Arms flew up. Even the quiet bow-wearers shouted, “Hooray!”

Here is the secret, since you can be trusted: that bent cap had once sealed the first jar of celebration fizz. When it rang, the joy could not stay inside one donut anymore. Ever since, donuts shout hooray in bunches, never alone. Next time you spot the tallest party hat, see if you can find where Gus’s tink, tink, ta-DA is hiding.
