🎨 How to color it

Give the frosting strawberry pink, the donut edge golden tan, the sprinkles rainbow colors, and the little hearts and stars sunny yellow and cherry red. Use chunky crayons or markers for the wide frosting and donut shapes, then switch to a sharpened crayon tip for the small sprinkles and curly confetti. Try making the cheek ovals peachy and leaving the eye sparkles bright white so the donut’s face really twinkles.

In the warm bakery case, Tavi pressed close to the glass, sniffing cinnamon and butter. One silver moon-sugar sprinkle sat on the high shelf, just out of reach, and Tavi wanted it for the tiny bare spot beside his donut hole. He rolled out from his cozy paper doily, bump-bump, past sugar curls and sleepy cookie crumbs. A round sugar drop blinked from the shadow under the shelf. “Wait for the bell,” it whispered.

Waiting felt sticky and slow. Tavi’s frosting tingled while the oven ticked and the street outside turned blue. At last, ding! The door opened, a cool breeze swirled in, and down drifted not one sprinkle, but a whole secret shower—stars, hearts, curls, and the silver moon-sugar piece. Tavi rolled home with the moon sprinkle shining beside his donut hole, but he also carried a quieter smile. If you spot the tiniest curls near his feet, maybe the sugar drop is still keeping its secret.
