Every day, Pipkin tucked his paws over the rim of the big cafe cup and sniffed the warm cinnamon steam. He wanted the last sugar puff before the lunch bell dinged, but Mrs. Crumb always said, “Wait for guests.” So Pipkin waited, tail swish-swish, while spoons clinked and the cake dome smelled buttery.
Until one day, the sugar puff rolled under his saucer with a tiny plink. Because of that, Pipkin shoved his nose after it and found a secret paper packet hidden where nobody ever looked: three crumbs of sparkle sugar!
