Under the soft hill clouds, Lina tapped her cleats in the grass and waited for the little practice bell. No ding came from the tiny goal, only the hush-hush sound of leaves behind it.
She stepped past the cozy sideline to look, and wet grass tickled her socks. She checked by the net, under three sprouts, and beside a sleepy beetle. Still no bell. Then the soccer ball gave one gentle wobble. “Did you hear that?” Lina whispered.
