🎨 How to color it

Use grass green for the field, sky blue for the clouds’ open spaces, bright orange for the two cones, and cherry red for the number 7 jersey. With chunky crayons, fill the big jersey, shorts, ball panels, and cones first; staying inside every line is optional for little hands. Try making the star on the shirt sunny yellow so it looks like a tiny badge of light.

Kip’s Quiet Cone Game — Every day, Kip tapped the ball: tap-tap, roll-roll, grass tickling his socks. He wanted the cones to hear the softest soccer game ever. Read the full story →

Every day, Kip tapped the ball: tap-tap, roll-roll, grass tickling his socks. He wanted the cones to hear the softest soccer game ever.

Until one day, he invented Stop-and-Listen. One cleat rested on the ball. The field went hush. Because of that, a cloud slid by like a slow boat. Because of THAT, the trees whispered, “Stay.”

Kip smiled. Finally, he knew the game was working: ball below, sky above, cones nearby. Next time you see his foot on the ball, can you hear the quiet?
