🎨 How to color it

Give the crab a bright coral shell, the octopus a lavender purple, the seaweed emerald and teal, and the pearl shell a soft peach with a creamy pearl. Use sharp colored pencils for the crab’s claw patterns, shell swirls, and tiny bubble rings, then switch to broader strokes for the open sandy spaces. Try making the bubbles fade from pale aqua at the bottom to nearly white at the top, as if this reef corner is full of rising light.

Under a flat stone that smelled of salt and old rain, Mira scratched seven tiny marks in the sand. Before the tide bell hummed, she would count seven glowing bubbles beyond her nook—no guessing, no turning back at the waving weed gate.

The reef outside clicked and whispered. A fish flashed silver stripes past her nose, and a seahorse curled like a question mark beside the grass. Mira found one glow, then two, but the third drifted under a sleeping octopus’s arm. She held her breath, slipped sideways, and left behind her favorite red pebble so the arm would not brush the stone. “Just one more,” she whispered, though her legs felt fizzy.

At the seventh bubble, a clam opened with a soft pop. Its pearl blinked once, then again, answering the bubbles like a tiny moon-code. Mira carried the shine back in her eyes instead of her lost pebble, and if you trace the bubbles around her claws, you may find the secret count she scratched under a flat stone.
