Across Pebble-Pop Cove, Cody skittered fast-fast-fast, tapping every stone that clicked under his feet. He wanted to find the source of three round bubbles that had bounced out of the tide pool with soft plip sounds. The air smelled like salt and warm seaweed. A sailboat winked far away, and the palm leaves rattled like paper flags. “This way?” Cody called, lifting both claws as another bubble bobbed past his eyes.
The bubbles did not come from the waves. They did not come from the starfish or the little clams tucked in the sand. They floated from the curl of a giant spiral shell, where nobody had thought to peek. Cody leaned close, and out puffed a tiny choir of bubble-singing snails, practicing for sunset. Their song went bloop, brip, hooray! Cody clicked along, and the whole cove seemed to dance. Next time you spot Cody’s raised claws, can you find the shell that sang three round bubbles into Pebble-Pop Cove?
