Under the kelp garden, Nori tapped a tiny scallop button every evening: click, click, pause. The button had come from the tide bell that used to hang above Nori’s hatchling den, and its pearly ridges felt like home. Every day, the small crab tapped while the seaweed swished and the sand smelled clean and salty—until one day, the button answered with a soft hum.
Because of that, a sleepy starfish lifted one arm and smiled. Because of that, bubbles rose in a slow silver trail, and little fish circled as if listening to music only their fins could hear. “This way?” Nori whispered, following the hum to a quiet hollow between two waving weeds. There, the old tide bell’s empty frame waited. Nori set the button inside. Finally, the whole garden rang click, click, pause, and if you find the shell in Nori’s claw, you’ll know exactly where that sound belongs.
