🎨 How to color it

Color the camper butter yellow, the tall pine forest green, the sun golden orange, and the rolling hills soft blue-green. Use chunky crayons or broad marker strokes for the camper sides and sky, and do not worry if little hands color over the bold lines. Try making the camper windows pale sky blue so they look cool against the warm sunny roof.

The story behind this coloring page

The red sun hat was not on Lila’s bunk, not on the little table, and not beside the warm, humming camper door. Outside, the morning smelled like pine needles and toast. Lila held the door frame with one hand. She wanted that hat before the sun climbed higher, but the curving path looked longer than it had yesterday.

She stepped down. Crunch, crunch, went the dry grass. A burr caught her sock, and she made a tiny face, but kept going to the big pine. No hat. Then the camper step gave a soft tap-tap in the breeze. Under it, where nobody ever looked, sat her red hat with a pinecone tucked inside like a present. “I did it,” Lila whispered. She carried both back to breakfast, taller by one small step; can you spot the step that whispered?
