Every day, Tessa stitched scrap cloth beside the mountain meadow, making a tiny patch for the tent flap. The needle went poke-pull, poke-pull, while pine needles smelled sharp in the sun. She wanted the flap to stop flapping at night.

Until one day, a cricket hopped onto her thread and chirped right on the knot. Because of that, Tessa copied its bumpy rhythm: stitch, skip, stitch. Because of THAT, the patched flap hummed softly when the wind touched it, and sleepy campers followed the sound back from the berry bushes.
