🎨 How to color it

Color the whale sky blue, the two little fish orange and yellow, the round bubbles pale aqua, and the seaweed bright green. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the whale’s big belly and tail, and don’t worry if the color hops over the thick black lines. For a fun twist, make each splash drop above the spout a different blue, from light baby blue to deep ocean blue.

Under the bubble nursery, Dax held his breath. He wanted one tiny top bubble. Not two. Not a blub-blub bunch. One.

The two dart-fish whispered, “Try now!” Dax puffed. Pfft! A cool tickle zipped up his nose. Pop-pop-SPLASH! Water jumped high, higher, highest, and the bubbles wobbled like jelly.

Dax giggled so hard his smile stretched wide. Ever since that secret splash, whales don’t keep bubbles on top. They send them popping up as spouts. Next time you see the splash over Dax, can you spot the tiny bubble that started it?
