🎨 How to color it

Color the whale sky blue, the curling waves teal, the bubbles pale aqua, and the two tiny fish sunny yellow. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the whale’s big smooth body, then trace the wavy water lines slowly to keep them separate. Try making the splash darker blue at the bottom and lighter at the tips, like it is sparkling in the sun.

The story behind this coloring page

The First Bubble Fountain — Under the warm blue morning, Pip pushed through the waves with a tune rumbling in his belly. Read the full story →

Under the warm blue morning, Pip pushed through the waves with a tune rumbling in his belly. He wanted every fish to hear it, but when he sang, the sound stayed low and tickly, like shells rolling in sand. “Psst,” whispered a silver minnow, “try the place nobody checks.” Pip blinked. Nobody checked a whale’s own spout.

So Pip took the biggest, saltiest breath he could. Deep inside, something cool went clink! Out popped a tiny pearl-bell, hidden there since the sea was new. Pip laughed so hard that water shot up with plip-plop bubbles, and the bell rang inside every bubble. Fish leaped, clouds leaned close, and joy splashed everywhere. Since that day, whales blow fountains when their happiness gets too big to keep—next time you see the bubbles above Pip, listen for the secret bell.
