Behind the blue sponge tunnel, Junie clicked three bubbles into a row and whispered the rule of her brand-new game: follow the bubble that smells like salt-pepper, find the shell that hums. She wanted the humming scallop before the tide bell rang. Easy—except the first bubble drifted past the safe sponge roof and into the open water, where everything glittered like it knew a secret.
Junie chased it between prickly coral fingers and paid one silver scale when a nosy shrimp charged a toll. “No peeking,” she told the shrimp, because the second bubble had begun to fizz with a tickly sound: pssst-pssst-pssst. It led her to a scallop that did not hum. It whispered directions.
Inside the shell was a riddle-map made of bumps: three stars, two spirals, one curled road home. Junie forgot the tide bell completely. By the time she slipped back to the sponge tunnel, her bubbles were popping out new clues on their own. If you spot the stars and spirals on her, don’t tell everyone—the game still smells like salt-pepper.
