🎨 How to color it

Try a teal coat for the gnome, a violet star hat with yellow stars, red-and-cream mushroom caps, and a warm orange sunburst behind the rainbow. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny spirals, flower petals, hat stars, and rainbow border patterns, saving markers for the gnome’s coat and the wide rainbow bands. For a groovy twist, blend each rainbow stripe from light to dark as it curves around the gnome, then make the wand star match the brightest hat star.

The story behind this coloring page

Bramble’s Slow Star Game — Under his moss shelf, Bramble tapped his wand on a pebble: tink… tink… wait. Read the full story →

Under his moss shelf, Bramble tapped his wand on a pebble: tink… tink… wait. He had invented the Slow Star Game, where a player could only count a star after the wind stopped moving. Four stars had answered from his hat, but the fifth stayed quiet. So Bramble stepped out into Spiral Meadow, where mushrooms smelled like damp toast and the grass brushed his boots with cold fingers.

At the first toadstool, he waited through a bee’s buzz. At the second, he traded his last honey crumb to a field mouse who knew which shadows kept secrets. “Try the rainbow after it finishes humming,” the mouse whispered. Bramble stood beneath the huge curved colors until his toes ached and the sun slid low. Then the spirals in the clouds went still. A small star blinked from his wand, not above him but inside the game, patient as a seed. Bramble carried that quiet shine home, and if you count slowly among the hat stars, you may find the one that waited.
