Every morning, Rafi marched the same teak-forest path, tapping stones with his trunk and smelling wet bark, crushed fern, and the cool ribbon of stream. He wanted to lead the herd’s noon crossing someday, but the older elephants chose only the safest, slowest walkers. Then one day, a river otter burst from the water with a silver fish in her teeth and squeaked, “Wrong bank! The ford moved!”
Because of that, Rafi splashed after her through curling roots and slap-slap leaves, tusks flashing between tree trunks. Because of THAT, he found the old crossing choked with fresh mud while the stream growled higher around his ankles. The otter vanished under a log and popped up beside a line of pale stones hidden by ripples.
At last, Rafi planted one foot, then another, making a living bridge of calm, heavy steps. The herd followed his tracks through the rushing water. If you trace the stream with your eyes, can you find where Rafi first tapped the stones on the same teak-forest path?
