🎨 How to color it

Color the Persian cat’s long fur creamy ivory, the cushion’s paisley pattern in teal, coral, and golden yellow, and the comb a soft lavender. Use sharp colored pencils for the many fur tufts and tiny cushion dots, working from the outer edges of each shape inward. Try adding pale gray shadows under the chin, paws, and curled tail so the fluffy coat looks layered but still gentle.

In the quiet cushion room, where the air smelled faintly of cedar drawers and clean cotton, Yori pressed both paws into the middle of the round paisley cushion. He had invented a game called One More Ripple: no supper bell, no hallway creak, no twitchy whisker could end it until the fur along his chest settled into a neat, soft wave. Beside him, the silver-toothed comb clicked against the floorboards. Click-click. It wanted to hurry.

“Not yet,” Yori murmured. The comb gave one tiny scrape, then stopped. Dust floated through a stripe of late light. Yori breathed in, breathed out, and waited while the last stubborn tuft under his chin slowly curled into place. At last the whole room seemed to purr without moving.

The comb understood. It slid close to Yori’s paws and lay down flat, ready only when the game was done. Ever since then, combs wait beside cats instead of chasing their fur, and if you notice the quiet teeth near Yori’s paws, you may hear the soft click-click learning patience in the cushion room.
