🎨 How to color it

Layer the girl's hair in chestnut and amber, color the lilies with cream petals and coral throats, and make the curling vines a deep olive green. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow hair ribbons and tiny lily stamens, working from the outer vine border toward the face to avoid smudging. For a handmade-glass effect, shade the background scrolls from pale teal to smoky blue while keeping her skin and flowers warm.

The story behind this coloring page

Behind the south glasshouse, where the air smelled of damp stone and pollen, Selene cut thin willow strips with her own small knife and made a game no one had taught her: bend one curl, tuck one petal, guess where the next lily will open. The gardeners laughed softly into their sleeves; lilies, everyone knew, rose in straight proud stalks. But Selene had seen the wind combing through the panes at dusk, heard it whistle one secret note, and she answered by weaving her strips around the leaning trellis until her fingers shone green with sap.

By moonrise, the first bud followed her handmade curve. Then another. Then the whole stubborn row turned, not toward the path or the sun, but around the circle she had built, as if the flowers preferred a game with room for surprise. Selene pressed a final knot beneath the leaves and whispered, “Your turn.” Since that night, lilies in hidden conservatories have kept a little curl in their stems, because one girl made them a game and the flowers were too proud not to play.
