🎨 How to color it

Color the broom bristles in layered chestnut and honey brown, the crescent charm in antique gold, and the dangling stars in pale moon yellow. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow ribbon strands, leaf veins, and nested swirls, working from the outer curves toward the tight curls. Try a deep indigo-to-violet fade behind the stars so the warm handmade broom feels as if it is cutting through Halloween night.

Under the open roof of the moon workshop, Vesper drew the last flax cord tight around a broom handle she had carved from storm-fallen ash. Shavings curled at her boots; resin scented her sleeves; every bristle answered her fingers with a dry, quick whisper. She swung the broom once, not to fly, but to hear whether her own hands had given it a clean voice.

The answer came as a rush. A silver ribbon of wind slipped over the parapet, laughing through the hanging star bells, and twined itself around the handle as if it had been waiting for an invitation. Vesper did not chase it or command it. She lifted her awl, punched two tiny holes, and stitched a crescent charm where the wind had chosen to knot.

Only then did she see the trick: the wind had not decorated her work; it had signed the places where her sanding, binding, and patient wrapping had made room for it. Vesper ran her thumb over the fresh stitches, grinned into the bright gust, and swung the broom once more, proud of the clean voice she had built from storm-fallen ash.
