🎨 How to color it

Try smoky violet for the huge moon, deep indigo for the curling clouds, burnt orange for the stone path, and pale mint for the two little ghosts. Because the branches, path stones, and moon panels are all narrow stained-glass shapes, use sharp pencils and color from the outer edges inward to keep each section crisp. Add a quiet surprise by shifting the path from pumpkin orange in front to dusky lavender as it disappears under the moon.

The story behind this coloring page

Every evening, Calder counted the flat stones home by touch, heel to toe, while the moon sifted silver through the black branches. He had just invented a game for courage: step only on stones shaped like questions, and whisper what you are afraid to ask. Until one evening, the path answered with a soft clink, and every question-stone slid one place farther into the wood.

Because of that, Calder followed the moving line past the usual fork, where cold bark smelled of rain and small wings clicked overhead. Because of that, he reached a clearing he had never dared enter, and the moon, caught in the bare limbs, looked less like an eye than an open door. “One more question,” he breathed.

Finally, he asked the forest why it kept so many turns. The stones warmed under his shoes, one by one, making a path back that was not shorter, only known. By touch, heel to toe, Calder counted the flat stones home.
