Every afternoon, when the tide made shush-shush sounds on Shellcap Beach, Rocco set himself the same challenge: three perfect tail-wags, one cool grin, and no drool on Captain Mina’s sunglasses. He practiced beside the snack shack until his tail thumped exactly with the waves. “One, two, three—glamour!” he barked, tasting salt on his tongue.
Until one day, a sneaky wave slapped the sand and lifted Captain Mina’s painted surfboard right out of its resting place. Because of that, Rocco pounced after it wearing the sunglasses crooked on his nose. Because of THAT, he skidded through foam, bumped a basket of coconut buns, and sent three gulls flapping like spilled napkins. The board spun back to shore with one bun balanced on top.
At last, Rocco planted his paws, gave three mighty tail-wags, and caught the runaway bun before it rolled into the sea. Captain Mina laughed so hard her whistle squeaked. From then on, the beach crew called him their official snack surfer, and Rocco knew the shush-shush waves were clapping just for him. Can you spot the board that started all the mischief on Shellcap Beach?
