🎨 How to color it

Use sky blue for the splashing water, sunny yellow for the peeking sun, bright green for the grass, and warm red for the cracked jug. Chunky crayons are perfect for the big splash shapes and wide fence boards, and it is okay if little hands color over the lines. Try making every flower a different happy color so the garden looks surprised by the splash.

The story behind this coloring page

Why Splash Jugs Sing — In the warm grass, Pip patted soft clay. Pat-pat, squish-squish. Read the full story →

In the warm grass, Pip patted soft clay. Pat-pat, squish-squish. He wanted a tiny jug made by his own hands for the flower bed.

Then a cricket hopped close. “Sip?” it chirped. Pip filled the jug, but the clay was still soft. Crack! Water jumped up with a splish and a splash. Pip clapped. He had made rain for the roots.

Ever since, when a summer jug cracks, it sings splish-splash for thirsty gardens. Can you find where Pip’s proud little jug sang first?
