At the warm clover meadow, Jasper tied four paper bows to his kite tail and whispered, “Show me the secret breeze.” He had invented the Whisper-Kite Game: run past the daisies, let the kite tug three times, then follow wherever the string pointed. Home was the picnic blanket under the small ash tree, but the string pulled toward the far hill where the grass hissed shh-shh around his socks.
Jasper trotted after it, even when the hill felt taller than it looked. A thorny twig caught his favorite red ribbon bow and held on tight. He wanted to yank it free, but the kite dipped once, twice, three times. Jasper left the ribbon there, fluttering like a tiny flag. The wind slipped through the grass and opened a hidden path to a cool dip full of white flowers. He carried one back to the blanket, quieter and taller inside. Can you spot the kite still tugging toward the place where the grass whispered shh-shh?
