🎨 How to color it

Color the daisy centers golden yellow, the petals creamy white with pale lavender shadows, the leaves fresh green, and the big bow coral pink. Use sharp colored pencils for the dotted centers and narrow stems, then switch to broader strokes for the bow loops and fence boards. Try making every open daisy face a little different by adding soft peach, blue, or mint shading near the petal tips.

At the far gate of the community garden, Zadie snapped a coral ribbon between her fingers—zip!—and tied it around the daisies she had cut with her own small shears. The stems smelled green and sharp, and the white petals brushed her wrists like cool paper. She was making a “path bouquet” for the twilight garden parade, something brave enough to point walkers from the fence to the music circle.

She tucked in tall buds for arrows, wide blooms for stopping places, and ferny leaves for turns. “Hold still, mighty mast,” she told the bunch as the ribbon knot bumped against her thumb. The garden hummed with bees, watering cans clanked, and Zadie’s bouquet grew into a handmade signpost she could carry.

Then a butterfly landed on the bow, opened its wings, and another followed. They weren’t resting—they were reading. Each daisy face matched a spot in the garden: round center for the pond, tilted petals for the bean tunnel, tiny buds for the seed table.

Zadie lifted her bouquet high and marched, proud as a ship captain. People followed the flowers, and the butterflies floated ahead like bright punctuation. If you trace the stems from the ribbon, can you find where Zadie’s zip of coral points next?
