🎨 How to color it

Color the farm boy’s overalls denim blue, the pumpkins deep orange, the apple baskets bright red, and the apple cider sign golden yellow. Use sharp colored pencils for the plaid pants and corn kernels, then fill the larger pumpkins and barn walls with smooth marker strokes. Try a pale blue sky with soft gray clouds so the orange pumpkins and yellow corn feel extra warm.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the striped awning, Orin counted cider jugs by the smell of cinnamon and cold apples. He had carried baskets before, but never the first delivery to the far gate, where the road bent past the hay bales. His boots squeaked in the dewy grass as he tucked corn, carrots, and beet tops against his chest. “I can take them,” he said, and his voice came out small but steady.

The stand woke slowly: apples thumped into baskets, pumpkins rested round and quiet, and clouds drifted like wool over the barn roof. Orin waited for the delivery tag, rubbing one thumb over a carrot’s dusty ridges. A brown leaf slid beneath the pumpkin shelf. When he bent to free it, he found a folded paper tucked where nobody checked, held down by one tiny acorn.

Inside was a map drawn in cider-colored ink, not to the far gate, but to a lantern hook behind the stand. There, Grandma had hidden the delivery tag, with a note: For the helper brave enough to look below the obvious. Orin laughed so softly the corn silk barely stirred. Next time you see the pumpkins by his boots, imagine the secret still rustling under the striped awning.
