Every evening after the fire went pop-pop in the forest cabin, Tucker slid the fruit plate onto the rug and invented rules for his brand-new game: Snack Swap Sneak. No one could see who traded what. No one could squeak. No one could eat the last grape without making a dramatic face.
Until one day, Maple the squirrel swapped all the grapes for acorns from her bowl, and Bram the bear, trying to be clever, traded his cookie crumb for Tucker’s biggest apple. Because of that, Nia the rabbit declared a “mystery nibble round” and hid pear slices behind her paws. Because of THAT, the plate looked emptier than a bird’s whistle, and the room went strangely quiet except for the crackle of the logs.
Tucker’s ears twitched. He had saved three apple wedges under the couch for a victory snack. Instead, while everyone argued about crumbs, he nudged them onto the plate with his tail. “Surprise round,” he said. Nobody saw where they came from. Can you spot the fox guarding the fruit plate, just as the fire goes pop-pop?
