🎨 How to color it

Color the dolphin turquoise with a pale cream belly, make the tiny patterned fish coral and gold, and shade the sun bright lemon yellow behind soft blue clouds. Use sharp colored pencils for the dolphin’s tight spirals, dots, and zigzags, then switch to broader strokes for the big wave curls and sun rays. Try alternating teal and sea-green inside the zentangle sections so the hidden fish seem to swim through the dolphin’s back.

The story behind this coloring page

At Sunbreak Cove, the tide made slap-slop sounds against the black rocks, and Rafi scratched rules into wet sand with a shell. His new game was called Splash Score: one point for a wave that curled, two for a wave that threw bubbles, and five for any splash shaped like a fish. “No cheating, ocean,” he called, because the ocean had a wobbly laugh and terrible handwriting.

The game grew bigger by the minute. Rafi counted foam rings, sunbeams, cloud bumps, and one dolphin leap so shiny it sprayed salt on his eyelashes. Then the twist came: the dolphin’s back glittered with curls and dots that matched the marks in Rafi’s sand. Even stranger, the tiny fish-shapes inside the patterns lined up like tally marks.

Rafi blinked. The dolphin had been keeping score too—and winning by seventeen splashes. So Rafi added one new rule: any player who could wear the scoreboard got a bonus round. Next time a wave curls like a grin, check whether the ocean is laughing at its own slap-slop score.
