🎨 How to color it

Color the center planet peachy coral, its checkered ring in black and bubblegum pink, the smaller striped planets in mint and lavender, and the puffy stars butter yellow. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny ring squares and spiral paths, then switch to markers for the wide planet faces. For a preppy twist, make every other checkerboard space a different pastel so the rings look like cosmic ribbon.

Between the loopy comet trails, Pippa tucked a square paper ticket under her ring and spun three quick circles. The ticket was only cream-colored, with one bent corner and a smudge of cinnamon dust, but she patted it like a crown jewel. She wanted to pass her fizzing joy to every sleepy moon before the noon-bell star went ping. “Everybody gets a turn!” she called, and the nearest puffy star jingled like a tiny spoon in a glass.

She zipped past striped planets, crescent curls, and spiral wind lanes, tapping the ticket against each orbit gate. With every tap, a new sound joined in: clap-clap from the checker stones, hum-hum from the cloud bands, shoop from a passing moon. The little ticket grew warm in her hand. When Pippa finally held it up to cool it, the smudge was not a smudge at all. It was a hidden route, drawn in cinnamon dust, showing how all the bright paths could meet without bumping.

So Pippa did not lead the parade from the front. She pinned the ticket in the middle of the sky and let everyone follow its swirls at once. Rings flashed, stars bobbed, and planets laughed so loudly the noon-bell star forgot to ping and rang out a whole song instead. Next time you spot the busiest ring in the crowd, see if you can find where Pippa’s square paper ticket might be tucked, still fizzing with joy.
