🎨 How to color it

Color the planet’s wavy land patches lavender and mint green, make the two stars bright yellow, and fill the round craters with sky blue. The big simple sections are perfect for crayons or markers, and kids can color each wiggly patch before moving to the next one. For a secret-space look, try making the half circles around the rim alternate peach and teal.

The story behind this coloring page

Lula’s Star-Step Secret — Under a lavender sky that smelled like cold sugar, Lula tapped her bell pebble and whispered, “Star-step, circle-hop, hush!” She had just invented a game: step on a star place, hop to a round place, and find the quietest spot before the pebble stopped ringing. Under a lavender sky that smelled like cold sugar, Lula tapped her bell pebble and whispered, “Star-step, circle-hop, hush!” She had just invented a game: step on a star place, hop to a round place, and find the quietest spot before the pebble stopped ringing. Her own little hollow was cozy, but she tiptoed out across the wiggly mint paths anyway. Ting, ting, ting went the pebble in her mitten.

At the far blue circle, the ringing woke a sleepy map-snail, whose shell shone like wet chalk. “Trade?” it murmured. Lula gave up the bell pebble, and the snail slid a tiny silver home-mark onto her glove. Without the ting, she heard soft planet sounds: crunch, puff, her own happy breath. She skipped back by star, by circle, by curvy path, and her hollow felt even warmer than before. Next time you see the two star places, can you keep Lula’s hush-hush rule: star-step, circle-hop, home?
