High on Cloverback Ridge, Juno held her wings still and listened for the valley whisper. She wanted to ride it all the way to the silver pond before lunch, but the air only hummed, warm and sleepy, against her nose.
At last—hushhhh—the whisper came. Juno slipped from the ridge, quiet as a secret, then spotted a tiny moon-moth tumbling below her wing. Its paper wings clicked in the breeze. “Wait for the soft air,” it squeaked. Juno circled once, then twice, while the pond flashed far away.
Waiting cost her the first fast breeze. But when the next whisper rose, it lifted moth and glider together, smooth as ribbon. Juno reached the pond with a silver moth beside her and a calmer beat in her wings. If you trace the long hills under her, can you find the path of that hushhhh?
