🎨 How to color it

Color the squirrel warm chestnut brown, the heart-shaped acorn rosy red, the acorn cap golden tan, and the big background hearts soft pink. Use chunky crayons for the squirrel’s belly and tail, then try a sharper crayon point for the little leaf shapes and acorn-cap crisscross lines. Make the swirls pale blue or lavender so the red heart acorn feels like the secret prize in the middle.

The story behind this coloring page

Vivi’s Heart-Acorn Secret — Behind the blackberry hedge, Vivi set herself a secret challenge: find three heart-shaped things before the sun touched the fence. Read the full story →

Behind the blackberry hedge, Vivi set herself a secret challenge: find three heart-shaped things before the sun touched the fence. She already had a pebble and a leaf, but the third had to be the best one. A curly breeze went whoo-whoo past her whiskers, smelling like grass and rain. “I’ll follow it just once,” she whispered.

The breeze tugged her from her snug moss seat to the far side of the hedgerow, where prickly stems scratched her paws. Vivi almost turned back. Then she heard tap-tap under a vine. There, tucked in the cool green shade, sat an acorn shaped almost like a heart. She hugged it all the way home, not because her challenge was finished, but because now she wondered what other secrets the whoo-whoo wind knew. Can you spot the heart acorn Vivi carried back from the blackberry hedge?
