🎨 How to color it

Color the squirrel warm chestnut brown, the giant acorn cap golden tan, the oak leaves rusty orange, and the little heart bright red. Use chunky crayons or markers for the squirrel’s big tail and belly, then switch to a sharper crayon point for the acorn cap’s little scallops. Try making the background curls alternate light green and sky blue so the huge acorn still feels like the star.

Under the twig market awning, Tibby pushed three shiny oak beads with both paws. Scritch, roll, bonk! They kept bumping her toes. She wanted to carry them home herself, before the blue evening got chilly and smelled like wet leaves.

Then a snail she had never met slid from behind a curled vine, wearing a leaf tied around his middle. “Secret pocket,” he whispered. Tibby’s whiskers twitched. She found a fallen acorn cup, tucked the beads inside, and wove grass stems over the top with her own paws. It made a proud little basket against her belly.

Ever since, squirrels carry acorns close, because Tibby’s first acorn apron worked. If you spot a squirrel hugging one tight, you may know the secret: scritch, roll, bonk turned into home.
