Under the moonlit picnic cloth, Pippa pressed her seeds and listened for the tiny plink-plink song she loved. But the night was too quiet. A silver bubble bobbed past the rind, smelling like rain, so Pippa rolled after it, bump-bump, away from her cozy napkin corner.

She crossed a curly ribbon and stuck to a cold drop of juice. “Wait for me!” she squeaked. Pop! The bubble burst, and inside was not air at all, but a soft hum from every seed on the cloth.
