🎨 How to color it

Try silver for the knight’s helmet and armor, chestnut brown for the horse, sunny yellow for the star badge, and sky blue for the crown flag. Use chunky crayons or markers for the horse, hills, and castle walls, and don’t worry if the color hops over the lines a little. Add a secret rainbow stripe to the knight’s cape or make the castle flags match the tiny star on the shield.

The story behind this coloring page

Nico and the Whispering Flag — Behind the west hedge, Nico shook the empty tassel string on his riding flag. Swish, swish—nothing. Read the full story →

Behind the west hedge, Nico shook the empty tassel string on his riding flag. Swish, swish—nothing. The parade would start at noon, and a flag without a tassel felt like a cookie without a crunch.

So Nico nudged Clover down the garden road, past warm stones and sleepy daisies. At the bend, the flag went crinkle-crackle. Not wind. Nico leaned close. Inside the stitched crown, something tickled his glove: a tiny folded note, thin as a leaf.

“Secret door under the blue bush,” it whispered in purple ink. Nico gave up his last honey drop to a bristly beetle guarding the bush. Under it waited not a tassel, but a silver bell for the flagpole. When Nico rode back, the flag rang ding-ding with every step—can you spot the flag that kept the secret?
