🎨 How to color it

Color the skull ivory, the two big marigolds golden orange, the candle creamy white with a lemon-yellow flame, and the hearts bright coral. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny dots, scalloped eye rings, and curling vines, then fill the larger skull spaces with smooth, light pressure. Try shading the candle flame from deep orange at the center to pale yellow at the tip so it feels warm against the flower crown.

In the lantern pantry, where dust smelled like warm honey and old matches, Dalia set herself a challenge: she would count every quiet glow before the festival bell sighed. One lamp under the shelf, two glass jars on the hook, three sleepy coals in the blue stove. The candle on her own crown flickered straight up, proud as a tiny tower.

Then Dalia noticed a glow that did not stay counted. It slipped between stacked paper lanterns with a soft fffft, leaving a ribbon of gold on the dark. “Wait,” she whispered, and followed it past twine, tassels, and a box of spare wicks. Her curiosity pattered ahead of her faster than footsteps.

Behind the flour bin, the lost glow was warming a moth with torn velvet wings. Dalia bent close, and her candle flame bent too, not from wind but from listening. The moth opened its wings and flew home through a keyhole of light. Ever since that night, candle flames lean close when someone small needs finding; if you spot the little flame above Dalia, can you tell which way it is listening in the lantern pantry?
