🎨 How to color it

Try deep teal for the large flower-of-life petals, burnished gold for the arched outer bands, plum for the small bead circles, and coral for the angular center star. Use sharp pencils and color from the center outward, because the tiny triangles and narrow border channels can get crowded fast. For a sly glow, fade the central star from coral to pale peach while keeping the surrounding petal grid cooler.

The story behind this coloring page

The Circle That Winked — Every evening, Jonah checked the ornament archive by tapping each round bead with a brass ruler: tick, tick, tick, all proper, all still. Read the full story →

Every evening, Jonah checked the ornament archive by tapping each round bead with a brass ruler: tick, tick, tick, all proper, all still. He liked the dry paper smell, the lamp hum, and never, ever starting with the center star. Until one evening, one bead winked at him.

Because of that, Jonah tapped it twice, which made the outer arches snicker like spoons in a drawer. Because of that, the flowered circles began passing the wink inward, petal to petal, while the star waited, smug and pointy. Jonah’s hand hovered. “Oh, absolutely not,” he told the pattern, and touched the center.

The archive gave one cheerful pop. Nothing broke. One new line appeared, crooked as a grin, and Jonah laughed before he could stop himself. The next evening, he began with the center star, then tapped each bead: tick, wink, tick, all proper, all still.
