🎨 How to color it

Color the coop barn red, the roof shingles slate blue, the sunflower golden yellow, and the hens creamy white with bright red combs. Use chunky crayons or markers for the big coop walls and roof, then switch to a sharper crayon tip for the little grain dots and wood lines. Try making the two front hens slightly different by giving one soft tan wing feathers and the other pale gray tail feathers.

Every morning, Rina pecked exactly ten corn bits, no more, no less: tap-tap-tap, crunch! She had set herself a secret challenge—save the eleventh bit for the tiniest visitor by the egg coop door. Until one day, the feed scoop tipped with a clatter and seeds skittered everywhere.

Because of that, Rina had to peck fast before Bossy Bea saw. Because of THAT, she made a silly trail: three seeds by the step, four under the window, five beside the pail. “No squawking,” Rina whispered, though her beak was dusty and proud.

At last, the shy field mouse found the trail and nibbled while nobody watched. Rina strutted away, pretending she had only counted to ten—can you spot the extra little feast she left behind?
