🎨 How to color it

Give the robot knight steel blue armor, the castle towers warm gray stone, the shield emblem royal gold, and the spear a dark graphite shaft. Use sharp colored pencils for the many triangles on the helmet crest, shoulder plates, shield border, and stone floor, turning the page as you fill each angled section. Try a secret sunrise effect by blending pale yellow behind the open gate while keeping the knight cooler and metallic in front.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the west arch, Kestrel tapped his spear on the stones: clink, clink, clonk. The fortress gate should have answered with its deep gatebeat, but it only gave a dusty wheeze that smelled like old rain. Without that beat, the night watch would not know when to open for the lantern carts. Kestrel rolled one step beyond his favorite shadow, then another, following the wrong-sounding clonk into the courtyard.

Past the cold hinges and the echoing trough, his foot caught on a loose floor tile. It scratched his toe plate and made him hiss, “Quiet secret, where are you?” Under the tile was no gear, no key, no grand machine—just a tiny brass cricket, tapping two bent legs against a hollow stone. Kestrel carried it back inside his chest shield, where its tick-tick fit between his own hums.

That evening, the gatebeat returned softer, stranger, and exactly right. The lantern carts rolled home to the sound of clink, tick, clonk, and if you check the shield and stones, you may spot where the smallest drummer belongs.
