🎨 How to color it

Color the central rosette golden yellow, the long leaf panels emerald and teal, the clover tips soft violet, and the surrounding arch stones warm gray. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow stained-glass strips, working from the center flower outward so your hand does not smear the tiny panes. Try making each large petal fade from dark at the black leading to pale near the middle, like sunlight passing through glass.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the side chapel’s high round window, Liora swept blue dust into a little paper cone. She wanted one sky-colored glass chip for her brother’s empty lantern, just big enough to glow at supper. The stone floor smelled of rain and candle smoke, and the broom made hush-hush circles below the carved petals.

A glint winked from the center drain, where nobody but beetles looked. Liora knelt, scraping her thumb on the cold groove, and lifted a thin silver coin stamped with the same tiny clover shape as the window. “Well, you were hiding loudly,” she whispered. The glass chip she had been saving slipped from her pocket and cracked under her knee.

At the market door, she saw the lamplighter counting bent pennies, short one coin for oil. Liora dropped the silver piece into his tin while his back was turned. That night, every house on Chapel Steps shone honey-bright, and her brother’s lantern stayed plain. But when the rose window caught moonlight, one blue spark flashed on their wall; if you trace the clovers around the circle, can you find where the secret first winked?
