🎨 How to color it

Color the ark honey brown, the rainbow in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet, and the elephant soft gray with peach ears. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the big rainbow bands and wavy water, and don’t worry if little hands wander over the lines. Try making the stars golden and the waves two blues so the tiny fish look like they are darting through secret paths.

The story behind this coloring page

Why Rainbows Bend Over Boats — Before rainbows had a shape, Tovi the little tiger cub pressed his paws to the ark rail and tried to hear the sea’s whisper. Read the full story →

Before rainbows had a shape, Tovi the little tiger cub pressed his paws to the ark rail and tried to hear the sea’s whisper. Splash, hush, splash—the waves smelled salty and strange, and the sky was still gray after the long rain. He wanted to peek over, just once, but the water rolled so high his whiskers shook.

Then something small clicked against the wood. A starfish, pale as moonlight, lifted one tiny arm. “Hold this secret,” it whispered. Tovi took one brave breath and tapped the wet rail with his paw. At that tap, colors rose from the sea and bent over the boat like a gentle handle. Ever since, rainbows bend over boats to tell small hearts, “You may look now.” Next time you see the curved colors above the ark, can you spot the brave paw that began it?
