Every evening, Pippa hopped to the candy ferry dock to ring the snack bell before the boats went toot-toot across the syrup water. She loved the bright clang, the salty-sweet breeze, and the happy rush of cones, cups, and cookies crowding close. Until one day, a moon-moth bumped her cherry-pink top with a soft papery flutter. “My lantern went out!” squeaked the moth.
Because of that, Pippa forgot the bell and dashed after the moth along the warm boards. Because of that, her frosty drips fell plip, plip, plip, glowing where they landed like tiny stars. Soon every treat on the dock followed the shiny trail, laughing and calling, “This way!” At last the moth found the ferry mast, and Pippa rang the bell so hard joy jumped into everyone’s hands. Next time you spot her star sprinkles, can you find the plip-plip lights she shared?
