🎨 How to color it

Use sandy tan for the desert ground, warm cream for the manna flakes, soft blue for the clouds, and gentle browns for the woven baskets. The many small flakes and pebbles are perfect for a sharp crayon or pencil, while the big tents and robes can be filled with broad, simple strokes. Try making the path a pale sunrise yellow so it winds brightly between the baskets and tents.

Before the campfires snapped awake, little Neri set himself a challenge: he would fill one basket before his sandals got dusty. The desert air felt cool on his cheeks, and the tents made soft flup-flup sounds in the morning wind. Then tiny white bits began to patter down.

Neri held out his basket, but his fingers shook. “Just one scoop,” he whispered. He bent low and gathered a handful. The pieces were round and smooth, like tiny pearls, and they smelled sweet as warm bread. All around him, families came smiling with their own baskets.

From that morning on, manna kept its pearl shape, so small hands could be brave and pick it up one piece at a time. If you spot the winding path between the tents, can you find where Neri’s first scoop may have landed before his sandals got dusty?
