🎨 How to color it

Layer turquoise and deep teal through the curling waves, color the dolphins in soft slate gray, and make the scallop shells warm coral with pearly cream borders. Use sharp colored pencils for the bead rings, fish fins, and tiny splash marks, then switch to smooth blended strokes for the larger wave bands. Try leaving the central circle pale moon-white so the surrounding ocean curls feel as if they are glowing around a hidden tidepool.

At the reef rotunda, Marin arrived before dusk with a shell-lantern cupped against her coat, listening to the sea breathe through carved stone channels. Pearls clicked softly in the rim under her shoes; beyond them, dolphins turned in the blue dimness, and small fish stitched silver pauses between the currents. She had come to gather one quiet measure of tide-light, enough to fill the lantern for the evening watch.

The water rose by finger-widths, then by whispers, sliding through grooves shaped like shells, foam, and spiral snails. Marin lowered the lantern into the center hollow, expecting the usual green shimmer. Instead, the hollow stayed clear. The light had not failed; it had been hiding beneath the plain, uncarved circle, where nobody bent to look.

When the first moonbeam touched that empty place, a hidden pool opened like an eye. Gold-blue radiance spilled outward, catching every pearl, every fin, every curling crest, until the rotunda seemed to be breathing stars. Marin laughed once, too softly to break the hush, then lifted her shell-lantern high so the dolphins, the fish, and the watchers on the far steps could share the tide-light that had waited under silence.
