🎨 How to color it

Layer the starfish in coral pink, the scallop shells in pearly lavender, the spiral shells in sandy beige, and the curling waves in teal blue. Use sharp colored pencils for the dotted rings, shell ridges, and tiny spiral details, working from the center circle outward so your hand does not smudge the fine lines. Try a mischievous tide-pool twist by shading every matching shell pair slightly differently, as if the mandala is hiding a secret code.

The story behind this coloring page

Mira Counts the Tides — Every evening, Mira timed the tide by counting scallops, starfish, and sand dollars in the moonlit shell circle, allowing herself one smug sip of coffee per perfect round—until one day an extra spiral appeared where none had been. Read the full story →

Every evening, Mira timed the tide by counting scallops, starfish, and sand dollars in the moonlit shell circle, allowing herself one smug sip of coffee per perfect round—until one day an extra spiral appeared where none had been. Because of that, she recounted, and the surf answered with a wet little snicker; because of that, she named the intruder Barnaby and accused him of poor symmetry. Finally, when the foam slid away smelling of salt and kelp, Mira left one blank space uncounted, just in case curiosity wanted room to run.
