🎨 How to color it

Layer jade green on the turtle’s flippers, deep teal along the scalloped shell rim, coral pink in the central mandala petals, and pale aqua through the curling currents. Use sharp colored pencils and color from the shell’s center outward, so the tight petal shapes stay crisp before you move into the wider flipper patterns. For a playful twist, make every spiral in the water a slightly different blue-green, as if the turtle is stirring secret little whirlpools.

Every day, Sable drifted the kelp arcade at noon, tracing the same lazy loops through water that smelled of salt and crushed cucumber. Then she invented Current Snooker: nudge one silver bubble into a swirl, bank it off a ribbon of kelp, and let it kiss three more bubbles before anyone noticed the rules changing.

Until one day, the bubbles refused to stop. Because of that, the wrasse abandoned their errands to keep score in squeaky clicks, and because of that, a pompous crab accused Sable of “illegal whirlpooling” while accidentally scoring twelve points with his hat. “Objection withdrawn,” he muttered. Finally, Sable crowned the wildest eddy home base and settled in the middle of the laughing, spinning water, exactly where a mischievous turtle belonged.
