🎨 How to color it

Layer the sleeping panda in ivory and soft charcoal, the lotus petals in blush pink, the bamboo stems in olive green, and the broad water leaves in deep teal. Use sharp colored pencils for the feathered fur curls and leaf veins, then blend larger lotus petals with smooth, light pressure. Try a moonlit twist by shading the background vines in cool lavender so the panda’s warm ivory face feels tucked into a secret garden.

Between the lotus pools, where wet leaves smell of rain and green bamboo knocks softly overhead, Sable made herself a private dare: count every curled vine before sleep caught her. One spiral, two spirals, three—then a fourth seemed to uncurl when she blinked. “You moved,” she whispered, and the vine, shameless thing, curled tighter around a drop of silver light.

Here is the secret: the grotto was once too still. Moonbeams slid off the water and vanished before the flowers could drink them. Sable, curious past the point of sense, tucked her chin to her paw and counted backward instead. With each number, a vine curled, holding one bead of moonlight in its little fist. By morning, every lotus opened with a pale glow at its heart. Ever since, lotus vines keep their spirals, not for climbing, but for catching the light that tries to run away.
