🎨 How to color it

Layer the lion’s mane in amber, ocher, and burnt sienna, with ivory lilies, blush roses, coral poppies, and deep green leaves around him. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow mane ribbons and vine curls, following each strand from root to tip so the flowing lines stay clear. Add a quiet teal or midnight blue background between the floral stems to make the warm lion and pale blossoms glow.

Before the bloomery had morning pearls, Varen walked its tiled paths at dusk, looking for one dry slab where his old bones could settle. The roses held the day’s heat, the lilies smelled of rain, and every leaf brushed his ankles with cool green fingers. At the fountain’s lip he met a moth no larger than a petal, her wings dusted flat by mist. She did not ask for help. She only trembled beside the water, too tired to rise.

Varen lowered his head until his mane touched the stone. One by one, he curled the longest strands around the moth, making a small golden room no gardener would notice. “Rest here,” he murmured, and gave up the last warm place he had found. All night, droplets gathered along those spirals, bright as beads, yet none fell on her wings. By dawn she lifted away, leaving each curl tipped with silver.

Ever since, in quiet gardens after rain, dew chooses the curled leaves, tendrils, and lion-mane grasses first, as if remembering the night generosity kept watch where nobody was watching.
