🎨 How to color it

Layer the unicorn’s face in soft ivory, the flowing mandala mane in teal and plum, the stars in pale gold, and the scalloped outer border in smoky lavender. Use sharp colored pencils and work from the outer scallops toward the horn so your hand does not smudge the tiny leaf veins, dots, and curled tendrils. For a luminous twist, shade the horn from deep violet at the base to silver at the tip, echoing that gradient in a few of the mane’s longest curved strands.

The story behind this coloring page

At the roofless observatory, where broken brass lenses smelled of rain and cold stone, Liora pressed her cheek to the floor and tried to sleep between the tick-tick of far constellations. She had crossed cedar gullies and mirror ponds for one corner that would not ask her to shine, sing, or be admired. Then a moon-moth, no larger than a fallen petal, landed on her horn and whispered, “Keep still; I’ve found the center.”

It flew in widening loops, brushing her mane with powdery wings, and each loop caught a loose star from the sky’s dark cloth. Liora did not move. The stars settled around her, not as a crown, not as a cage, but as the exact hush she had been hunting. The old observatory sighed through its cracks, and the circle closed with one pearl-bright click.

So this is the secret: ever since that night, stars circle unicorns who have found the place that fits them, while they rest with one cheek to the world and the whole sky keeping still.
