Before sunrise, Sable set one rule for the festival panel: no curve could repeat. In her riverside workshop, she cut teal shards, amber slivers, and leaf-green crescents while the saw sang zizz-zizz over the wet stone. By noon, a gust burst through the shutters and spun her paper trimmings across the floor; from above, they looked like currents circling the peacock she had not meant to make. Laughing, Sable soldered the wind into the border, proud of every bright cut of sunrise.
