🎨 How to color it

Give the dragon deep emerald scales, his pirate hat a rich black with a red band, the ship’s sails warm cream, and the treasure coins bright gold. Use sharp colored pencils for the dragon’s many scale shapes and the tiny coins, then switch to broader strokes for the palm leaves and rolling waves. Try a sunset twist by blending peach, coral, and violet behind the skull-shaped rocks so the gold in the cave glows brighter.

With sea spray snapping at his whiskers, Haddock climbed the black rocks of skull cove and counted three brave breaths. He had made himself a tiny challenge: when the next ship crossed the bay, he would raise his silver hook and call, “Ahoy!” just once. The word felt huge in his mouth, bigger than a cannon boom, bigger than the warm wind rattling the palm fronds.

A skull-sailed ship slid between the waves, its flag cracking like a whip. Haddock lifted his hook. “Ah—” he began, and every coin in the cave behind him chimed. Not clinked. Sang. The rubies hummed low, the pearls peeped high, and the old treasure chests kept a bright wooden beat.

The sailors cheered, thinking Haddock had planned a harbor song. His courage slipped into the music like sunlight into water. “Ahoy!” he shouted, laughing now, and the cave answered with golden ting-ting-tings. Next time you spot his raised hook, listen closely for the three brave breaths in the sea spray.
