🎨 How to color it

Layer the pony’s face in warm ivory, the flowing mane in chestnut and copper, the cheek flowers in marigold, and the circular mandala border in deep teal. Use sharp pencils for the tiny curls, dots, and petal bands, turning the page as you work around the circle to keep your hand angle steady. For a luminous twist, shade the mane from dark roots to golden tips while keeping the pony’s eyes glossy black.

Every evening, Vesper circled the old observatory rotunda, counting the brass stars in the floor and touching the small carved comb tucked beneath her mane. It was only pearwood, worn smooth by her mother’s hand, but when its teeth brushed her forelock, the room smelled faintly of rain on warm stone. Until one dawnless morning, the comb gave a thin, silver hum.

Because of that, Vesper stopped at the forbidden mirror-ring instead of passing it by. Because of that, the dark glass woke in circles, showing not her face but a sky crowded with unlit constellations. “Just one step,” she whispered, and the words trembled less than her knees.

At last she set the comb into the narrow groove at the ring’s center. Light unfolded petal by petal across the ceiling, quiet and enormous. Vesper stood very still, brave in the smallest possible way, while the first star returned to its brass star in the floor.
